Colour Overload on New Years Eve!

New Years Eve seems like the perfect opportunity to summarise the year on the Life In Colour Blog.

Way back on the 27th January was my little nephew’s Christening. We had a lovely church service at Blofield Church then Afternoon tea at East Hills. One of my best friends, Hollie, brought her glitterbar and certainly added some sparkle to the occasion.

Another of my friends, also called Holly, moved to Cyprus at the beginning of 2019 with Ian and the two boys. They are based at RAF Akrotiri and sound like they have adjusted to the Mediterranean life well. I miss her terribly, but we did manage to catch up over Christmas in Norwich at our fave wine bar with Claire!

February 2019 was the start of my Parkrun journey. I have completed 15 during this year. Most of these have been at Eaton Park in Norwich with the odd one at Lingwood and a special appearance at Williamson’s Park in Lancaster back in April with our Ironman, Karl Wakeman.

You certainly notice the hills once you step out of Norfolk! Running has consumed lots of my time in 2019. As well as Parkrun, I have completed 90 runs during the year, racking up a total of 430k which is the equivalent of 10 marathons!!!

March was a busy month, which started with a weekend in Dublin. This was the first-time visiting Ireland for me, although Mark had been several times before. You can refer to my blog called Green – the official colour of Ireland for the full low down. I still maintain that the highlight was 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep! I am sure that everyone reading this who has young children can relate 🙂

We spent some of the Easter Holidays with Kerry & Karl where we enjoyed beach walks in Heysham and lunch at The Royal.

In May, we spent a weekend in Cleesthorpes with the Gardners. It was chaos with 3 caravans, 5 children, 4 grandparents and The Seaside Squad!

June was an exciting month for me. I took delivery of my new car! My BMW M-Sport The Ultimate Driving Machine! It makes my journeys to Ely much more enjoyable and goes hand in hand with my lifelong moto – Work Hard Play Hard!

Summer 2019 was fabulous. I completed run Norwich in July and then we jetted off to Portugal for 10 days in the Sun with the Hadden’s. Flo & Eddie loved spending the time with their cousin Hugo whilst we lounged around in the gigantic unicorn!

In September, unfortunately we lost our Ken suddenly. We also recently lost Mark’s Grandad Denis, both of whom were in their 90’s. Both have been extremely kind and generous to us over the years and will be missed so much. They were both positive role models, inspiring us and our children to lead meaningful lives.

I have been involved in charity work this year more than ever! I danced in the Flashmob with my Zumba group in October raising money for Breast Cancer. I also did the Santa Dash for A local children’s charity in December. To become a volunteer is one of life most natural resources.

November saw the British Excellence of Sales and Marketing Awards. I was a finalist (incase you didn’t already know) and enjoyed star treatment at the awards ceremony, Wembley Stadium. Thank you to my bestie, Amz, for coming with me to celebrate.

Perhaps the biggest news for me, personally, was being promoted to Sales Director at IT Governance Publishing, just before the Christmas hols. Thank you to those of you who wrote lovely comments on my LinkedIn Profile. I am proud to have become the first female Director at the company and am looking forward to the new challenges that 2020 bring.

Wishing all my readers a bright and colourful 2020. As a new chapter unfolds there is always a new story to be told…

Love Soph x

P.S Thank You to the people in my life who make me smile, support me and bring me happiness.
